WHY BODHI TREE?

A GLOBAL FORCE

People are moving faster and farther than they ever have. The distance between places and cultures is smaller than it’s ever been. In short, the world is changing. And it’s travel that’s powering much of that change.

Travel and tourism is one of the world’s largest global industries:

TRAVEL & TOURISM IS A GROWING PART OF GLOBAL GDP

…PEOPLE ON THE PLANET ARE EMPLOYED IN THE TRAVEL & TOURISM INDUSTRY.

What if we could harness that power? So we’re not just moving, but moving forward?

A WORLD IN NEED

The people, places and cultures that enrich us through our travels are in immediate peril. Think for a moment about these sobering statistics:

Slide 1

More than 1 billion people do not have safe drinking water

Slide 2

10 million children under the age of 5 die each year from malnutrition

3

100 million primary school-aged children are not in school

4

Every year, some 20 million acres of forest are lost

In the face of these enormous challenges, hard-working individuals are transforming their communities for the better in destinations across the globe. They don’t have big budgets or slick advertising campaigns, but they’re making an impact. A big impact. They’re uniting community leaders to action and educating their neighbors on the real problems facing our planet.

The Bodhi Tree Foundation was established by travelers for travelers, to support the grassroots efforts of these community leaders to ensure future generations will be able to experience the natural and cultural wonders of our planet as we do today.
